About Justin Parekh, MD
Justin Parekh, MD, is a board-certified surgeon who specializes in transplantation of the liver, kidney and pancreas, as well as hepatobiliary (liver and gall bladder) surgery. He also has expertise in treating liver tumors, hepatocellular carcinoma, cirrhosis and end-stage renal disease.
His research focuses on surgical outcomes after transplantation. He is developing and introducing a national platform that will allow transplant programs to track outcomes beyond basic patient and graft survival.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Parekh was assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He also served as director of kidney transplant at William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in Dallas.
Dr. Parekh completed a fellowship in abdominal transplant at UC San Francisco, where he also did his residency in general surgery. He earned his medical degree from UCSF School of Medicine and is board certified in surgery.
Dr. Parekh is a member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.
