About Richard Silva, MD

Richard Silva, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in the care of newborns. As a newborn hospitalist, Dr. Silva meets with parents and their babies during their postpartum stay, providing daily care to infants. This care includes newborn examinations, screening tests, and reviewing care with families including anticipatory guidance prior to their transition home.

As an associate physician in the Department of Pediatrics, he helps teach medical and pediatric residents about newborn care while in the hospital and general pediatric care in the clinic setting. Dr. Silva completed a pediatric residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. He is board certified in general pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, playing golf and basketball, and watching automotive and culinary shows. Dr. Silva speaks fluent Spanish.
