Find Primary CareAbout Amruti Borad, DO
Amruti Borad, DO, is a board-certified family medicine doctor. She provides primary care for patients of all ages, with a special interest in the management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney disease and liver disease. She also focuses on women's health, including contraception and menopause; all aspects of pediatrics and adolescent health; and the treatment of chronic pain with osteopathic manipulative therapy.
She performs a variety of office procedures, including joint injections, trigger point injections, toenail removals, placement and removal of IUDs/implants, and laceration repairs. Dr. Borad finds it most rewarding to develop long-lasting relationships with patients and their families. She emphasizes compassion, respect and a personalized approach for all her patients.
Her research interests include preventative health care and communication with patients. Her work has been published in Proceedings of UCLA Healthcare.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Borad was an assistant professor and taught clinical medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She also provided care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors in an outpatient clinic.
Dr. Borad completed a residency in family medicine at UCLA and earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific at the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif.
She is a member of the California Academy of Family Physicians.
In her free time, Dr. Borad enjoys the beach, going to the movies, dancing, high-intensity interval training, yoga, meditating, playing the piano, preparing new vegetarian recipes or baking cookies for family and friends, and renovating and decorating her home.
