About Yewah Jung, DO, MPH
Yewah Jung, DO, MPH, is a board-certified family medicine physician dedicated to providing full-spectrum primary care to adults and children. Her practice emphasizes preventive care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. She has a particular interest in dermatological and family planning procedures. As an osteopath, she believes in the mission to care for the whole person and finds great happiness to be part of her patients' lives.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2018, she was a staff physician at North County Health Services and lead clinician at its Ramona Health Center. She has presented on issues related to improving care for chronic illnesses such as diabetes; improving access to care; and diminishing health disparities through community health assessment.
Dr. Jung completed residency training in family medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she also served as chief resident. In 2013, she was awarded Outstanding Resident of the Year from the American Osteopathic Foundation. She earned a doctoral degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and master's degree in public health from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with a concentration on health systems and policy.
Dr. Jung first became inspired to become a community medicine doctor while growing up in rural Pennsylvania. She served as the first resident in her program to participate in an underserved medicine program in urban Pittsburgh and has in practiced at federally qualified health centers in Philadelphia, Dallas and San Diego. She continues to pursue international medical missions, having traveled to Haiti, Dominican Republic, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico.
She is a member of the Albert Schweitzer Fellows for Life, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, the American Osteopathic Association and the Christian Medical Dental Associations. Dr. Jung enjoys hiking, surfing, stand up paddle boarding with her dog Kaiya, traveling, and spending time with her family. She speaks medical Spanish.
