About Gillian Mackay, MBBS, FACOG
Gillian Mackay, MBBS, is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who provides labor and delivery care for both low and high-risk pregnancies, as well as minimally invasive gynecological surgery, adolescent gynecology and contraception and family planning. She also performs office procedures such as hysteroscopy.
As a physician in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, she teaches medical students and residents at UC San Diego School of Medicine. Her work has been published in Clinical Lactation, Handbook of Gynecology, and Obstetric Gynecology, among others.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, she served as an OB/GYN at University Hospital Basel in Basel, Switzerland, Oklahoma University Physicians, UCLA Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Mackay completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. She earned her medical degree (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) from the Royal Free and University College Medical School in London. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Mackay is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FACOG). She has received several awards for excellence in teaching medical students.
Dr. Mackay enjoys travel, cooking, yoga, skiing, hiking and spending time with her husband and twins. She speaks conversational German.
