About Charles Ginsberg, MD

Charles Ginsberg, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist who specializes in the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury and electrolyte disturbances.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, Dr. Ginsberg educates medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He has a special interest in the effects of kidney disease on bone health and his research is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). His work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology and American Journal of Kidney Diseases, among others.

Dr. Ginsberg completed a fellowship in nephrology at UC San Diego School of Medicine and did his residency in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (Washington University School of Medicine) in St. Louis. He earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and. Dr. Ginsberg also holds a master's degree in clinical research from UC San Diego. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

In his free time, Dr. Ginsberg enjoys general and Jewish history, the New York Jets, classic rock, basketball and swimming.
