About Omar Al-Nouri, DO, MS, RVPI, FACS
Omar Al-Nouri, DO, MS, RPVI, is a board-certified vascular surgeon who specializes in a wide spectrum of vascular diseases, including complex treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, venous disease and hemodialysis access. He uses both open and endovascular (less invasive) techniques to provide patients with the best possible approach. Dr. Al-Nouri is the director of Vascular Services at UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest.
As an associate professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Al-Nouri also teaches medical students, residents and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
Before joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Al-Nouri was a vascular surgeon at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio, where he received the Legendary Caregiver Award for excellent surgical care. He has presented at national and regional vascular conferences on topics ranging from complex carotid treatment to minimally invasive treatments for acute pulmonary embolus.
Dr. Al-Nouri completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at Loyola University in Maywood, Ill., where he also did his general surgery residency. He holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and a master's degree in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Al-Nouri is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery, and also holds the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) certification, which represents the highest standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation.
He is a member of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Society, and the Society for Vascular Surgery.
Outside of work, Dr. Al-Nouri enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf, tennis and basketball. He is conversant in Arabic.
