Angelique Richardson, MD, PhD, is a board-certified medical oncologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. She uses chemotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapies to offer the best possible treatment options. Dr. Richardson's research involves cancer health disparities and studying why survival rates for certain types of breast cancer differ among various groups of women.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she cared for breast cancer patients at Memorial Cancer Institute in Hollywood, Fla.
Dr. Richardson participated in a clinical breast oncology program at the University of Miami in Florida. She completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Penn. She did a residency in internal medicine at Adventist Health White Memorial Medical Center in Los Angeles.
She earned her medical degree from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, Calif., where she also earned a PhD in microbiology and molecular genetics with an emphasis in cancer biology and breast cancer. Dr. Richardson is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
She is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Physicians, the National Medical Association and the American Medical Association.
In her free time, Dr. Richardson enjoys reading, traveling, trying new cuisines and spending time with her family and friends.
