About Sara Higginson, MD
Sara Higginson, MD, is a board-certified surgeon who treats people with traumatic injuries caused by motor vehicle collisions or falls, and severe burn injuries. Her research seeks to identify patterns that lead to disproportionate representation of certain minority groups in the trauma patient population. This data will be used to help tailor trauma prevention programs in these groups.
Dr. Higginson completed fellowship training in critical care surgery at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she also did a fellowship in burn surgery. She did her general surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco-Fresno.
Dr. Higginson earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. She is board-certified in general surgery and critical care. She is a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Burn Association, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Higginson is also an associate fellow member of the American College of Surgeons.
Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, kayaking and crocheting.
