About Jon Stiffler, MD
David Stiffler, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist who treats people with substance use disorders, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders, anxiety and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
His experience includes working with veterans and military family members in an outpatient setting.
Dr. Stiffler provides medical oversight for UC San Diego Health's Intensive Outpatient Program, where people with a substance use disorder and another mental health condition, such as ADHD, PTSD, or a mood or anxiety disorder receive comprehensive care in an outpatient setting.
Previously, he was a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. Stiffler's research interests include substance use disorders and PTSD.
He completed fellowship training in addiction psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency and served as chief resident. Dr. Stiffler earned his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. While there he received the Department of Psychiatry Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Research.
He is a member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and serves as associate editor of their newsletter. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
In his free time, Dr. Stiffler enjoys the outdoors and playing golf.
