About Cosmina Ciobanu, MD

Cosmina Ciobanu, MD, is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist in the Pediatric and Adolescent Eating Disorders Program at the UCSD Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research. She currently sees children and adolescents with eating disorders (and other comorbid psychiatric conditions) in the Partial Hospitalization Program and the Intensive Outpatient Program at UCSD Eating Disorders Center.

Dr. Ciobanu joined UC San Diego Health in October 2019 and greatly enjoys working in a team based setting treating children and adolescents with eating disorders and other comorbid conditions. She has experience treating a wide variety of mental health disorders through both medication management and therapy.

As an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, she supervises and teaches medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Ciobanu received specialty training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she served as a chief fellow. She completed her adult psychiatry residency at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where she also completed her medical degree. Dr. Ciobanu attended the University of Notre Dame on a full tennis scholarship and graduated magna cum laude, double majoring in science preprofessional studies and anthropology.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, playing tennis and traveling.
