
About Jejo Koola, MD
Jejo Koola, MD, is an internal medicine physician who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. As a hospitalist, Dr. Koola is assigned to patients at the time of admission and provides care only during their hospital stay. He does not see patients at outpatient clinics and is not available for appointments. Upon a patient's hospital discharge, Dr. Koola communicates with their regular physician to ensure quality care.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine, he instructs medical students, residents and fellows in biomedical informatics and hospital medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he also serves as co-director for the Department of Biomedical Informatics Summer Internship Program.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Koola was a hospitalist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Nashville, Tenn. He also served as an attending physician at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Dr. Koola completed a fellowship in medical informatics and quality at Tennessee Valley Health System and a residency in medicine at the Medical College of Virginia. He earned his medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Koola is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American Medical Informatics Association.
