Find Primary CareAbout Ian Diaz, MD
Ian Diaz, MD, is a board-certified family medicine doctor dedicated to practicing the full breadth of primary care and caring for patients of all ages, including children, adolescents, adults and seniors. His practice emphasizes preventive care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. He has a particular interest in continuity care and urgent care services.
Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Diaz was medical director of the San Diego Veterans Affairs clinic in Escondido, Calif., and an associate clinical professor at UC Los Angeles. He has cared for patients at North County Health Services in San Marcos, Calif. In addition, he has served as an attending physician in the U.S. Air Force in Los Angeles and in the U.S. Army in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dr. Diaz completed a residency training in family medicine at the North Oakland Medical Centers (now Pontiac General Hospital) in Pontiac, Mich. He earned his medical degree at University of the Philippines in Manila, Philippines. He is board certified in family medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Diaz enjoys snowboarding, scuba diving in La Jolla and playing violin with his son. He is fluent in Spanish.
