About John E. Cross, MD

John Cross, MD, is a board-certified occupational medicine physician who specializes in treating and managing work-related injuries, illnesses and diseases.

Before joining UC San Diego Health in 2016, he was managing physician and medical director of U.S. HealthWorks Occupational Medicine and Urgent Care Center in Oceanside, Calif. Dr. Cross previously served in the United States Navy as a physician. He supported several large marine squadrons and group commands during wartime deployments worldwide and at overseas duty stations as the senior medical officer. For his service, Dr. Cross received the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Dr. Cross completed his residency in occupational and environmental medicine at University of California, Irvine School of Medicine in Irvine, Calif. He earned his medical degree from East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tenn. He is board certified in occupational medicine.

Dr. Cross is a member of several professional societies including the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and the Military Occupational and Environmental Medical Association.
