About Calvin Yeang, MD, PhD
Calvin Yeang, MD, PhD, is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in general cardiology and heart disease management as well as preventive cardiology, echocardiography and lipid disorders, including lipoprotein(a).
In addition to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Yeang is a physician-scientist with an active translational research laboratory with the aim of improving prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and aortic valve stenosis. Specifically, Dr. Yeang's research focuses on understanding non-traditional but common risk factors such as lipoprotein(a). This research has been funded by the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He has co-authored several peer-reviewed articles and his work has appeared in Nature, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, European Heart Journal, JAMA Cardiology, among others.
Dr. Yeang completed a cardiovascular diseases fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree and doctorate from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He is a member of the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Yeang speaks Mandarin Chinese in addition to English.
