Find Primary CareAbout Ruth Abeles, MD
Ruth Abeles, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine and obesity medicine doctor. She provides primary care for adults, including preventive care and diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases. Dr. Abeles has special interests in women's health, LGBTQ care, obesity medicine and geriatric care. She also manages the care of people with multiple medical problems ranging from diabetes and hypertension, to thyroid disease, heart conditions, and many others.
Dr. Abeles is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine.
She completed her residency at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was chief medical resident and received the David Weeks Memorial Award as resident of the year. Dr. Abeles earned her medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She is board certified in internal medicine and obesity medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Abeles enjoys travel, yoga, hiking and half-marathons. She speaks Mandarin fluently.
