About Melissa Tygart, MD

Melissa Tygart, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician providing care through the Children's Primary Care Medical Group. She is a member of UC San Diego Health Physician Network.

UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.

As a pediatrician, Dr. Tygart provides primary care for infants, children and young adults. She loves love working with kids of all ages because they are playful, a joy to be around and make work fun and meaningful. Dr. Tygart believes taking care of pediatric patients is a collective team effort with families and parents.
Dr. Tygart completed her residency in pediatrics at UC San Diego School of Medicine and earned her medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics.

Outside of work, Dr. Tygart enjoys playing guitar, hiking, camping and playing board games with friends. She also volunteers for a large animal and equine fire evacuation group. Dr. Tygart lives on a ranch and has over 30 animals she cares for including goats, horses, chickens, dogs, cats, tortoise and birds. Her animals remind her of kids because they are brilliant, full of love and find joy in the simplest of things.
