Stephen Rohrer, DO, is a board-certified physician providing primary care through the San Diego Sports Medicine & Family Health Center. He is a member of UC San Diego Health Physician Network. UC San Diego Health Physician Network is an alliance of health care providers based in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. Members of the network collaborate on developing shared systems, infrastructure and quality initiatives to provide high-value health care in the region.
As a primary care physician with an expertise in sports medicine, Dr. Rohrer provides preventive care and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and injuries for people of all ages. Trained in osteopathic medicine, Dr. Rohrer has a whole-body approach to health care. He is experienced in manual medicine techniques to diagnose and treat restrictions in the body that contribute to pain and disease. He also incorporates alternative healing methods when addressing musculoskeletal disorders including proliferation therapies (prolotherapy), such as platelet rich plasma (PRP).
Dr. Rohrer is a team physician for San Diego State University Athletics and La Jolla Country Day School. He has provided medical coverage for the Ironman World Championship, U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California, Los Angeles Dodgers, Thunderboat Regatta, Holiday Bowl, Poinsettia Bowl, NCAA basketball playoffs, and numerous other events.
Dr. Rohrer earned his medical degree at Midwestern University, Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona. He is board certified in family medicine with a subspecialty in sports medicine, and is a fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
